Your May Awaits!
The flowers are bright but the sun shines brighter!
As May unfolds with its blooming flowers and warmer days, it's the perfect time to create lasting memories with the children in your life. Engage young minds, celebrate others, and get outside! Here are five activities (with tips included) to consider this month:
Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9: Make a card, clean in the classroom, bake a treat, or pick up a gift card. There’s something for every budget.
Plant an herb garden: Herbs can thrive in pots and indoors. Pick one that your family would actually eat. Varieties of mint are an easy herb to try.
Get ready for Mother’s Day, May 11th: Plan a brunch, finger paint a bouquet, do an extra chore for Mom, give extra hugs.
Take a color walk: Make a color board using free paint sample cards from your local hardware store. Find items in nature that match the colors on your board. Bring tape to attach the nature find to the correct color.
Remember Memorial Day, May 26th: Visit your local Veterans’ cemetery, sign up to pull weeds to refresh sites there, and fly the American flag at half-staff until noon.
Would you like some book recommendations to help celebrate two special days in May? These two books are perfect reads. Nana Needs A Nap is a hilarious heart-warmer to read to grandma, because you don’t want to forget grandma on Mother’s Day; she’s the reason you’re able to celebrate.
For an appropriate Memorial Day read, check out Ethan’s Word of Honor. Children hear “Honor the fallen,” but do they really understand what honor means? This book can help.
You can find both these books on my website! Paperbacks are available on Amazon.
